The sixth annual Southampton House Tour, “Insider’s View,” will celebrate Southampton Town’s 375th Anniversary on Saturday, May 30 with a house tour from 1 to 4 p.m. followed by a champagne reception from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Saint Ambroeus on Main Street in Southampton.
The tour, which is a benefit for the Southampton Historical Museum, will give guests the opportunity to experience houses that illustrate the town’s unique architectural history—from Colonial days to the present day.
Seven historic sites on the tour will include The Windmill, a six-acre waterfront property featuring a 12 bedroom, 10 bath mansion, which is approached down a gravel driveway to a four-story windmill. Designed originally by architect, W.E. Brady, the house retains many of the original features. Also on the tour is a Tuscan village on 2.7 acres with a view of Back Bay, a 1920’s village cottage, and Hill House—a 19th century farmhouse. Lake House, an extensive mansion with sweeping views of Lake Agawam, is also on the tour, as is A Butler’s Manor, a luxury bed and breakfast originally constructed in 1860 as the home of William Jagger, a descendant of an early settler of Southampton. That property is a designated state historic landmark. Lastly, the iconic St. Andrew’s Dune Church, nestled between Lake Agawam and the Atlantic Ocean, is also on the house tour.
Tickets can be purchased for $95 in advance; $110 the day of the tour, and are available at the Rogers Mansion Museum Shop, 17 Meeting House Lane in Southampton, or by calling (631) 283-2494.
