On Monday, August 25, a star-studded cast took to the Guild Hall stage in East Hampton for a one-night-only reading of William Goldman’s Academy Award-winning screenplay “All the President’s Men.”
The event was a fundraiser for the nonprofit Center at West Park and its efforts to preserve the landmarked West Park Presbyterian Church on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, which has been the group’s home for 12 years. Since 2023, CWP, which fosters accessible, inclusive arts and community programming, has served as managing agent of the landmark church, transforming it into a self-sustaining community and cultural hub. But the church has fallen into disrepair and now faces demolition by a developer — unless funds are raised in time.
The cast for the reading included Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, the Washington Post reporters who uncovered the Watergate scandal — which led to Richard Nixon’s resignation — and were portrayed in the 1976 film version of “All the President's Men.”
