SiriusXM has announced that Metallica will launch “Maximum Metallica,” a new year-round channel dedicated to the band, debuting Friday, August 29, on Channel 42 and the SiriusXM app.

The announcement was made by drummer Lars Ulrich during a live appearance on “The Howard Stern Show.” To celebrate the launch, Metallica will perform a special concert on Thursday, August 28, at Stephen Talkhouse, located at 161 Main Street in Amagansett.

The concert will be recorded and premiere on the new channel on Monday, September 1, at noon. It will rebroadcast throughout the week on “Maximum Metallica” and be available on the SiriusXM app. The full show will also air on Howard 101 on Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m.

“Maximum Metallica” will feature the band’s full catalog, rare recordings, live shows, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes content curated by Metallica members. The channel will be available for free in SiriusXM-equipped vehicles through the month of September.

The Stephen Talkhouse performance is part of SiriusXM’s ongoing invitation-only concert series at the Hamptons venue, which has previously hosted artists including Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Ed Sheeran and Mumford & Sons.

Tickets are not available for public sale, but SiriusXM subscribers and fans can enter for a chance to attend the exclusive event at siriusxm.com.
