Stony Brook Opera To Perform At Cultural Center

As part of its “Great Romances: Myths, Fairy Tales, and Literary Classics” series, the Stony Brook Opera company will travel to the Southampton Cultural Center to perform “Hansel and Gretel” on Sunday, February 24, at 2 p.m.

The group will perform Engelbert Humperdinck’s classic opera in a new English singing translation, prepared for Stony Brook Opera by Metropolitan Opera soprano Jennifer Aylmer. The opera will be performed in an imaginative chamber version for flute, clarinet, french horn, string quartet and piano ensemble, arranged by Kathleen Kelly of the Vienna State Opera and will be conducted by Timothy Long.
