South Fork high school thespians took to the stage and strolled down the red carpet Sunday afternoon, June 5, at the East End Arts Council’s 14th annual Teeny Awards.

The ceremony, coordinated this year by Anita Boyer, celebrates students’ achievements in musicals, plays and one-act shows.

“The meaning of the Teeny Awards is to bring everyone together to celebrate theater,” Ms. Boyer told the audience, filled with parents, educators and community members in the auditorium of Shoreham-Wading River High School, this year’s host school.

In total, South Fork performers and technical crew members garnered 47 nominations with representation in Sag Harbor, Southampton, Hampton Bays, Westhampton Beach and East Hampton school districts and the Ross School.

Pierson High School of Sag Harbor dominated with some of the afternoon’s greatest honors including Best Supporting Male in a Musical for Matthew Schiavoni in the role of Cinderella’s Prince in “Into the Woods,” a tie with Rodrigo Barros from Shelter Island; Best Supporting Female in a Musical for Anna Francesca Schiavoni in the role of Little Red in “Into the Woods,” a tie with Colleen Kelly from Mattituck; Best Male Lead in a Musical for Denis Hartnett in the role of The Baker in “Into the Woods;” and Best Female Lead in a Play for Reilly Rose Schombs in the role of Aunt Abby in “Arsenic and Old Lace,” another tie with Mattituck’s Colleen Kelly. Michelle Rinaldi took home the award for Original Playbill and Poster Design for her comical portrayal of “Into the Woods.”

Westhampton Beach came out with two wins: Best Leading Male in a Play for Nicholas Auletti in “Don’t Drink the Water” and Outstanding Choreography for Claire Beaver, Sarah Beaver, Kristen Brockmiller and Molly Magee for “Pirates of Penzance.”

In addition to the distribution of awards, students performed numbers from their respective shows. Best Supporting Male in a Musical nominee Brendan Powell and winner Matthew entertained as the two princes from “Into the Woods” with the comical song “Agony,” while Southampton High School’s Elisia Ivey, nominated for Best Supporting Female in a Musical, performed a powerful rendition of “I Know Where I’ve Been” from “Hairspray.” Ross student Katie Morgan performed a portion of the one-act play “Thank You For Stopping” with Teeny host Rob Hinderliter, a Westhampton Beach High School graduate who is now a Tony- and Grammy-winning Broadway producer. All of the nominees also gathered onstage for the opening number to perform a song from Broadway’s hit “Hamilton,” with lyrics changed to pertain to the Teenys.
