The Sylvester Manor Educational Farm in cooperation with the Shelter Island Town Recreation Department kicks off their 2017-concert season with an evening of world-class bluegrass music featuring “The Lonely Heartstring Band,” on Saturday January 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Shelter Island School Auditorium.
Combining instrumental virtuosity with three-part harmonies, “The Lonely Heartstring Band” has a growing repertoire of original songs and compositions that showcase their talents and a dedication to meaningful, roots-conscious music.
Since beginning in 2012, “The Lonely Heartstring Band” has been on the rise. With their 2015 IBMA Momentum Award and the 2016 release of their debut full-length album on the Rounder Records label, they are at the front edge of a significant career.
Already they have generated a devoted following of music-lovers across North America, and performed and headlined at major music venues including the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and an unprecedented four years in a row at Greyfox. The band delivers a “dynamic, diverse and heartfelt performance that generates a genuine connection and brings crowds to their feet.”
“These guys are as close to the real deal as it is possible to get. They made my hair stand on end,” Darol Anger, a fiddler for Republic of Strings and Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music said. Opening for the “Lonely Heartstring Band” will be Tom and Lisa and Friends. Don’t miss what has become an annual post-holiday Shelter Island tradition!
The Shelter Island School is located at Rt. 114 in Shelter Island. Reserved seats and tickets for the Lonely Heartstring Band are $25 to $40 and are available by visiting sylvestermanor.org or by calling the Manor at (631) 749-0626.
