East End Arts’ Executive Director, Patricia Snyder has stepped down after 23 years working for the nonprofit arts organization. Shawn Hirst began as East End Arts new executive director on August 31.
“During her tenure at East End Arts, Pat Snyder led a tremendous expansion in membership and enrollment at our school, and created signature events and programming that set a strong foundation for our future,” said John McLane, president of the Board of Directors at East End Arts. “We will miss her creativity and enthusiasm, and wish her well in her future activities.”
“I have had the pleasure of working for East End Arts since 1995,” said Ms. Snyder. “I feel blessed to have met and worked with so many amazing people. It has been a joy and extremely rewarding to build on the successes of my predecessors along with my staff and board to guide EEA to its current place of prominence on Long Island.”
Ms. Hirst brings in more than 15 years of management experience in the nonprofit sector. She has served as the Chief Development Officer and Acting Chief Program Officer for the Suffolk Y JCC, and previously served as the executive director of Patchogue-Medford Youth and Communty Services.
“I am humbled and excited to lead this important organization into its next chapter,” said Ms. Hirst in a relase issued this week. “I want to thank everyone for their warm welcome. I want to thank Pat Snyder, EEA staff and the board of directors for their support and assistance in helping me transition into this position. Following in Pat’s shoes will not be easy, but with your input, participation and support, we can be assured that East End Arts has a bright future.
I recognize I have a lot to learn and I intend to invest time and attention to get to know and understand the EEA culture; policies and procedures; and the legislative environment impacting the broader community. I stand with the EEA board in its commitment toward the growth and success of EEA."
