On Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m. Southampton Arts Center hosts an Interactive Reading of Barbara Slate’s graphic novel “Mirror Test: The Cassidy Hutchinson Story.” Volunteers are invited to read a page or listen and see pages projected on the big screen. Barbara Slate will be signing books afterward. A live reading of the “Barbara Slate Story” will take place at 3 p.m.

Slate has created characters for DC Comics and Marvel. Described as “titanically talented “by the legendary Stan Lee, she has written over 300 comics. For Marvel, she created, wrote and drew “Yuppies from Hell” and “Sweet XVI,” wrote “Barbie Fashion” comics and put her own spin on Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and “Pocahontas.” For DC Comics, she created “Angel Love,” an adult-themed series for tweens and teens, and wrote over 100 Betty and Veronica stories for “Archie Comics.”

“Mirror Test: The Cassidy Hutchinson Story” is her most recent work. Slate teaches in universities, schools and libraries using her critically acclaimed textbook, “You Can Do a Graphic Novel.” Copies of her books will be available for purchase.
