Lana Jokel’s Film ‘Figures Transformed’ Screens at SAC

At Southampton Arts Center, the 2022 exhibition “Figures Transformed” showcased the works of three artists from different generations — Deborah Buck, Hal Buckner and Elizabeth Strong-Cuevas — who use the figure as the central imagery in their work. On Saturday, October 14, at 4 p.m., SAC screens “Figures Transformed,” director Lana Jokel’s hourlong film about the exhibition and the artists. In her work, Deborah Buck uses anthropomorphic and imagery figures to create an other-worldly environment that beckons us to participate in a world beyond ours. Hal Buckner utilizes the female figure to empower, celebrate and alter the art historical canon. ... by Staff Writer
