On Saturday, July 1, at 4 p.m., former New York Times sports columnist Robert Lipsyte will be at The Church in Sag Harbor to speak on the art of boxing. Sara Cochran, The Church’s chief curator, will talk with Lipsyte in conjunction with “Strike Fast, Dance Lightly: Artists on Boxing,” a summer exhibition being offered at The Church in collaboration with the FLAG Art Foundation.

Lipsyte covered boxing for The New York Times during the Muhammad Ali era and wrote the young adult best-selling book, “The Contender,” a boxing novel. He was also a finalist for the 1992 Pulitzer Prize in Commentary and an Emmy Award winner as host of the Channel 13 nightly public affairs show “The Eleventh Hour.” Lipsyte’s knowledge of the sport allows for a unique perspective into the world of boxing.

Tickets for the talk are $20 ($10 members) at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is located at 48 Madison Street, Sag Harbor.
