The John Jermain Memorial Library will premiere two new series of works-on-paper by Sag Harbor artist Scott Sandell in a show running from July 2 through August 25. An artist reception will be held at the library on Sunday, July 2, at 2:30 p.m.

The exhibition includes very large color field paintings from Sandell’s “Measures of Instability,” as well as the most recent pieces from his ongoing collage series, incorporating papers made by the artist.

Sandell’s collage works often begin with a found object — sometimes a wine label, the wrapper from a chocolate bar, newsprint shards, or even packing material — which is glued or sewn to handmade paper. The work builds from there with multiple printed impressions done on a traditional etching press. These pieces serve as both a documentation of everyday life, as well as a visual notebook of ideas.

John Jermain Memorial Library is at 201 Main Street, Sag Harbor. For details, visit johnjermain.org.
