The Choral Society of the Hamptons Performs ‘A Christmas Garland’

authorStaff Writer on Nov 28, 2023

Music is integral to the holiday season and The Choral Society of the Hamptons is proud to provide shared musical experiences to help kick off the holiday season. The group’s annual holiday concert, “A Christmas Garland: Bach, Rutter & Saylor,” will be held at Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church on Sunday, December 3, with two performances offered — one at 3 p.m. and another at 5:30 p.m.

In addition to its own members, the Choral Society will be joined by professional soloists and accompanied by the South Fork Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Song-A Cho. Since its founding in 1946, The Choral Society of the Hamptons has developed a repertoire of music by all the great choral composers, and attracts members from across the East End. Music by J.S. Bach, John Rutter and Bruce Saylor will be performed. One work by Saylor, “Star of Wonder,” will be the arrangement’s inaugural performance. To celebrate, composer Bruce Saylor will be in attendance.

Walter Klauss, a frequent guest conductor of The Choral Society and musical director at the Old Whalers’ (First Presbyterian) Church in Sag Harbor, will lead the chorus in this performance.

Tickets are $35 (preferred seating $75 and students $10) at choralsocietyofthehamptons.org or by phone at 631-204-9402. Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church is at 2429 Montauk Highway, in Bridgehampton.
