Meet Rupert Boyd, an Australian classical guitarist. Meet Laura Metcalf, an American cellist. Now come to The Church on Saturday, May 11, at 6 p.m. and meet “Boyd Meets Girl,” the musical duo who has toured the world sharing an eclectic mix of music from Debussy and Bach to Radiohead and Beyoncé. This acoustic performance is from artists who, from pop to classical, traverse the musical terrain with ease and create engaging experiences with their audiences.

“Boyd Meets Girl” combines the virtuosity of two world-renowned soloists in an unforgettable evening of music and atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from artists from all genres and often speaking with the audience from the stage about the works, the two break down barriers not only between musical genres but between audience and performer, opening all to a unique experience.

The duo of Boyd and Metcalf has toured the world and their two studio albums have been streamed well over four million times on Spotify alone. They arrange much of their repertoire themselves, drawing inspiration from artists across all genres, and often speak from the stage about the works to create an engaging, conversational concert experience that breaks down boundaries not only between musical genres but between audience and performer. The duo’s debut album, released in 2017 on the Grammy award-winning label Sono Luminus, reached #3 on the Billboard Traditional Classical chart. Their sophomore album, “Songs of Love and Despair,” was released in 2022 and garnered much praise. Their music is broadcast on radio stations around the world, including regularly on New York’s WQXR and SiriusXM.

Tickets to the concert are $30 ($25 members) at thechurchsagharbor.org. The Church is at 48 Madison Street in Sag Harbor.
