The Gil Gutiérrez Jazz Trio (Gil Gutiérrez on guitar, Bob Stern on jazz violin and David Rodriguez on bass) will perform at the Montauk Library on Sunday May 19 at 2:30 p.m. Mr. Gutiérrez has an avid following throughout Latin America, the United States and Spain for his performances and compositions, including several film scores. A renowned virtuoso guitarist and classically–trained composer with a mastery of jazz, flamenco, and son cubano, he is known for his performances with superstar vocalists Ana Gabriel, Francisco Céspedes, Arturo Sandoval and members of the Afro-Cuban All Stars.

A native of Oaxaca, Mexico, Mr. Gutiérrez composed and performed the soundtrack for the documentary film “Lost and Found in Mexico” and he was featured in the National Geographic Traveler documentary “The Granny Diaries.”

Mr. Stern has been a full-time resident of Montauk since 2008 and has been playing violin for over 50 years, performing in multiple styles, from Baroque music to country, rock and jazz, both live and in studios. Mr. Rodrigues is a renown bass player and the former President and CEO of the Apollo Theatre in New York City. Currently, he is the executive producer of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. The Gil Gutiérrez Jazz Trio is on their North American tour and following their Montauk Library show will be performing at the Jazz Standard in New York City on May 21 and 22.

The Montauk Library concert will be held in the Suzanne Koch Gosman Room (lower level). Admission is free. Montauk Library 871 Montauk Highway, Montauk. Call 631-668-3377 for information.
