The Joni Project, a tribute band celebrating the music of legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell, will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.
Formed as a tribute in both sound and spirit to one of music’s most innovative artists, The Joni Project is fronted by Long Island multi-instrumentalist and singer Katie Pearlman. Known for her ability to perform Mitchell’s songs in their original open guitar tunings, Pearlman leads a seasoned lineup of jazz and jam band musicians.
The band features guitarist Dave Berg, bassist Dan Ehrlich, drummer Alan Lerner, keyboardist Mark Mancini, percussionist Steve Finkelstein, saxophonist and flutist Premik Russell Tubbs, and backing vocalist Victoria Faiella. Members of the group have shared stages with artists from the Grateful Dead, The Band, The Doors and the Neville Brothers.
Audiences can expect fresh interpretations of Mitchell’s iconic catalog, spanning multiple musical eras. The setlist includes classics such as “Both Sides Now,” “Big Yellow Taxi,” “Chelsea Morning,” “Help Me,” “Raised on Robbery” and “Free Man in Paris,” along with selections from Mitchell’s dynamic period collaborating with Jaco Pastorius, Pat Metheny and Michael Brecker.
Tickets are $42 to $54 at baystreet.org. Bay Street Theater is on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor.
