The Montauk Library will host a free concert by the Julie Bluestone Duo on Sunday, September 28, from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Suzanne Koch Gosman Community Room on the library’s lower level.
Flutist, saxophonist and clarinetist Julie Bluestone will be joined by pianist and keyboardist Bill Smith for an engaging musical afternoon featuring selections from the American Songbook, Latin rhythms inspired by Tito Puente, and more. The concert is free and open to the public.
Bluestone, a classically trained musician, is well known in both the Hamptons and Manhattan for her jazz, funk and classical performances. She appears regularly at clubs, cabarets, weddings and private events, and also offers private lessons.
Smith is an experienced jazz pianist who received a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album with the Skatalites, pioneers of Jamaican music. He often performs with bassist Bakithi Kumalo of Paul Simon fame and co-founded the East End Latin group Mambo Loco, with whom Bluestone has also performed and recorded.
The duo has collaborated on the East End for more than 15 years, performing at concerts, festivals and private events in various ensemble settings.
The Montauk Library is located at 871 Montauk Highway. Registration is available at montauklibrary.org/events.
