The Montauk Library presents a concert of “Waterways: Maritime Folk Music and Ballads” performed by the Jordan Shapiro Trio on Wednesday, July 10, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Jordan Shapiro Trio features Jordan Shapiro, vocals/piano/guitar/accordian, Noah Chase, mandolin/guitar/vocals and Tim Kiah, upright bass/vocals.
Multi-instrumentalist Jordan Shapiro performs in various styles of music. He performed on keyboards in many ensembles, including a Zappa tribute band and Gary Lucas’s Gods and Monsters. Jordan also leads a jazz-fusion Balkan folk project called “Choban Elektrik.” His bluegrass band “Astrograss” performs annually at the legendary Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival.
Noah Solomon Chase is an Israeli American musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist and mandolinist for the Jewish rock band Soulfarm.
Timothy Kiah is a multifaceted musician and composer. He was recently awarded the City Artist Corps Grant by the New York Foundation of the Arts. Kiah’s compositions and arrangements have been performed and premiered at numerous venues, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Blue Note and Joe’s Pub. He has been commissioned by organizations such as Chamber Music America and Lincoln Center Theatre. He is a composer and bassist for the Chelsea Symphony, NYC
