PechaKucha, in which speakers show 20 images for 20 seconds in compelling 6-minute and 40-second long presentations about living creatively on the East End, returns to the Parrish Art Museum in a live-streamed form as well as in person to a limited audience, on Friday, March 19, at 6 p.m.
“PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 32” will include architect Nishan Kazazian, photographers Hugh Patrick Brown and Jaime Lopez, and artists Lauren Ruiz and Mark Van Wagner. Registration is required at parrishart.org.

Photojournalist Hugh Patrick Brown spent a major part of his career at Time-Life, shooting primarily for Time and People magazines, and occasionally for Fortune and Sports Illustrated. Brown’s assignments took him to Vietnam, Northern Ireland, and the White House under the Nixon administration.
Artist, licensed architect, and educator Nishan Kazazian’s work, encompasses a wide range of media and methods, challenges and transcends distinctions between art and architecture. His visual language blends and transforms the boundaries between expressiveness and functionality while integrating social, environmental, technological, and political issues.
Jaime Lopez was born in Peru, where the breathtaking landscapes became an aesthetic foundation for his lifelong career as a photographer and artist. In 1980, Lopez moved to New York to study graphic design at Parsons School of Design and relocated to Sagaponack in 2000. His most recent project — the book “Hamptons Artists, The Current Wave: 48 Artists Making Their Mark on the East End” — features local artists and their studios.
Lauren Ruiz is a research-based artist interrogating ecological contamination, institutional authority, and ethics through multimedia installations, interactive performance, and new media projects. Her work has been featured at The Art Institute Vienna, The Latvian National Museum of Art, and the 108th annual College Art Association Conference 2021.
Painter and sculptor Mark Van Wagner was born in New York, graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, and lived throughout the United States, before settling on Long Island, in Bellport, where he is the owner of the gallery Marquee Projects. One his most recent sculptures was included in the 2020 Long Island Biennial at the Heckscher Museum in Huntington.
“PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 32” on Friday, March 19, at 6 p.m. will take place in Parrish Art Museum’s Lichtenstein Theater and streamed online. Seating in the theater is limited and socially distanced. Registration is required at parrishart.org. Admission is $15 ($5 members) or free for live-stream. Donations welcome.
