LTV Studios and producer Josh Gladstone are currently presenting “American Songbook … Then & Now,” a five-part concert series celebrating the classic cabaret stylings of the great American Songbook as performed and interpreted by some of the region’s finest artists.
The next performance, “The Standards of Love,” will take place on Tuesday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m. at LTV Studios and stars Broadway, television and film actor Sal Viviano. Join Viviano, a Backstage and Broadway World Award-winning crooner, in an evening of some of the greatest songs of the 20th Century, written by the prolific and celebrated songwriters from Tin Pan Alley and Hollywood, and popularized by some of the most iconic singers ever recorded
A Detroit native, Viviano began his career as a teenager opening for comedy greats of the last generation in Chicago and showrooms throughout the Midwest (often in clubs he was too young to enter). In 1984, Viviano moved to New York City to make his Broadway debut in the lavish production of “The Three Musketeers.” He has since played co-starring roles in the Broadway hits “Romance/Romance,” “City of Angels,” “Falsettos,” “The Life” and “The Full Monty.” Off-Broadway, Viviano co-starred more recently in the revival of “Closer Than Ever” and in previous seasons originated leading roles in “The Big Time,” “Broadway Jukebox” and “Hamlet: The Opera.”
Producer Josh Gladstone was brought onboard earlier this year to produce performing arts at LTV. He has presented theatrical events and musical concerts in the area for many years (including over two decades at Guild Hall, where cabaret flourished). Gladstone has invited a roster of topnotch talent to inaugurate this dynamic new series in LTV’s intimate, black-box Studio Three Theater.
