HeavenSent, a group of young men from Long Island, will bring their gift of gospel singing to Bay Street Theater on Saturday, March 30. Their story began in the spring of 2009 at an outdoor community program when the group’s founder, Leander Stevenson, rounded up a few friends to sing together as a group. Soon after, they were asked to sing in a gospel concert and that fall, HeavenSent was officially formed.
Over the years, HeavenSent has performed with Radio One’s One Love Gospel Cruise, New Artist Showcase hosted by Liz Black, the Circle of Sister’s Expo in Manhattan, and the Gospel Music Workshop of America (GMWA) Conference in Brooklyn.
HeavenSent’s members include Mr. Stevenson, Melvin Robinson, Jr., Deu’boyce Robinson, Dana Bryant and Jeremiah Seabury. With a unique quartet-theme mixed with a contemporary sound, HeavenSent appeals to a wide range of audiences. The Bay Street Theater performance will feature special guests Chico Benymon, Serena Tyson, and Ruby Bias.
