The artwork of Victoria Hartman, Lutha Leahy-Miller, and Lauren Matzen will be on view from May 25 to June 15, at Romany Kramoris Gallery in Sag Harbor. The gallery will host a reception on Saturday, May 27, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Victoria Hartman is a Bronx-born artist living in Southampton. During her student days in New York City, she majored in art at the High School of Music & Art (now Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School) and at The Cooper Union, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. She worked as a freelance book designer and has written several joke books for children. When not painting, Hartman loves to explore and get inspiration from the East End landscape and to recharge with the energy and visual offerings of New York City.
Lutha Leahy-Miller captures the luminous energy of ocean waves, rendered in Japanese ink and brush on paper. A second generation Hamptons surfer, Leahy-Miller has lived and surfed the world over, and is the confluence of many inspirations. His Skull Series artworks are a meditation on death, a rumination upon our inevitable demise, a reminder of the preciousness of life, and of the infallibility of ever-constant change. Tibetan Buddhist philosophy regarding impermanence, is the key to the skull series.
Lauren Matzen has lived on the East End since 1986 and is a multimedia artist. She has studied with Paton Miller and has shown in local galleries including Southampton Arts Center and Ashawagh Hall. She has also shown at the Peter Mendenhall Gallery in Pasadena, California, and, more recently, at Romany Kramoris Gallery.
Romany Kramoris Gallery is at 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor. For details on the show, visit kramorisgallery.com.
