Guest composer David Del Tredici will join moderator Damon Ferrante at the Montauk Library on Montauk Highway on Monday, August 17, to discuss and present his new works.
The event will be the second in a series of three talks on “The New Golden Age: American Opera and Music for the Voice in the 21st Century,” featuring Damon Ferrante, a composer and third generation Montauk resident.
“The New Golden Age” is intended to bridge the gap between traditional opera and new American works. The presentations will explore the themes and styles of new operas through lectures, audience interaction and demonstrations, as well as live performances by guest musicians.
The third program, to be held on Friday, August 28, will be an evening of performances by Lilah Gosman, soprano, Margaret Peterson, mezzo-soprano, and Christopher Swanson, tenor, accompanied by pianist Nicholas Ong. The concert will highlight arias, duets and trios by visiting guest composer Tobias Picker.
These events are free and open to the public. For more information, call (631) 668-3377 or e-mail mntkprog@suffolk.lib.ny.us.
