Acclaimed stand-up comic Tig Notaro, known for her dry humor and unique style, will perform at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday, August 17, at 7 p.m.
Named one of Rolling Stone’s “50 Best Stand-Up Comics of All Time,” Notaro blends honesty, vulnerability and a niche delivery that sets her apart in the comedy world.
“We are so lucky to have someone as talented as Tig Notaro play our theater. Her humor is as relatable as it is hilarious,” said WHBPAC Marketing Director Heather Draskin.
Over the past several years, Notaro has built a remarkable career as a comedian, actor, writer, director, producer and podcast host. Her latest stand-up special, “Tig Notaro: Hello Again,” premiered on Prime Video in March and earned multiple Emmy nominations for its smart, understated brilliance. She also made history with her HBO special “Drawn,” the first fully animated stand-up special.
Notaro created, produced and starred in the semi-autobiographical Amazon series “One Mississippi,” which received critical acclaim and nominations from the Writers Guild of America, GLAAD and Critics’ Choice Awards. In 2025, she produced the Sundance-winning documentary “Come See Me in the Good Light,” coming to Apple TV this fall, and co-directed the GLAAD-nominated feature “Am I OK?,” starring Dakota Johnson.
Raised in Mississippi and later Texas, Notaro earned her nickname “Tig” from her brother as a child. After dropping out of high school and earning her GED, she began a career in the music industry before moving to Los Angeles and trying stand-up comedy in the late 1990s. Her work blends absurd observations with raw autobiographical stories, marked by an intimate, understated tone.
Notaro gained early exposure on Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and appeared on shows including “The Sarah Silverman Program,” “Community” and “Inside Amy Schumer.” Her breakthrough came in 2012 with a now-legendary set at Largo in Los Angeles just days after being diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer. The performance, in which she candidly discussed her diagnosis and personal tragedies, was released as the album “Live,” earning widespread acclaim and a Grammy nomination for best comedy album.
Since then, Notaro has released multiple acclaimed specials including “Boyish Girl Interrupted” and “Drawn.” As an actress, she has appeared in films such as “Army of the Dead” and series including “Star Trek: Discovery” and “The Morning Show.” She also co-hosts the podcast “Handsome” with comedians Fortune Feimster and Mae Martin.
Offstage, Notaro is married to actress Stephanie Allynne. The couple wed in 2015 and have twin sons born via surrogate. Her memoir, “I’m Just a Person,” became a New York Times bestseller, cementing her reputation as a courageous and unique voice in comedy.
Tickets for Tig Notaro’s August 17 show are $160 to $190 at whbpac.org. The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is located at 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach.
