Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Southampton History Museum is poised to help get the holiday shopping and decorating season off to a fast start with a special show and sale of magical treasures.

Over Thanksgiving weekend, the museum will host its Carriage House Holiday Sale & Designer Tree Auction on the grounds of the Rogers Mansion, 17 Meeting House Lane, Southampton.

Martha Stewart and many well-known designers are using their considerable talents to create tabletop holiday trees to benefit the museum’s free education programs. A silent auction of the tabletop trees begins Friday, November 27, at 10 a.m. and ends Saturday, November 28, at 4 p.m.

The Holiday Shop will be open Friday and Saturday, November 27 and 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and filled with those great treasures found all summer long in the Thrift Shop, plus lots of many additional exceptional items. In addition to vintage jewelry, handbags and jazzy clothes, there will be ornaments — both new and vintage — great stocking stuffers for children, books about Southampton, and items by local artisans.

Tom Edmonds, executive director of the Southampton History Museum, says, “This is a great way to get the family out after Thanksgiving and begin a festive season. The museum grounds are a safe haven for fun with all COVID restrictions in place including limited entrance, required face masks, temperatures taken and hand sanitizing applied before entering.”

A Celebration of Memory and Magic: Capote’s Christmas Stories Revived on SAC Stage

Truman Capote, a longtime Sagaponack resident, left a lasting legacy on the East End. As the world celebrated Capote’s centennial in 2024, readers reflected on his literary genius and larger-than-life persona. In the Hamptons, he is remembered for the memories he created in a place he called home — and where his ashes were spread on Crooked Pond, his presence forever tied to the area. This year, back by popular demand, staged readings of Capote’s holiday story collection will once again bring the author’s singular voice to life on a Hamptons stage.
