The Suffolk is alive with “The Sound of Music Sing-a-Long” on Saturday, June 1, at 8 p.m. when it presents the fan-favorite Julie Andrews classic with a brand-new spin that brings interactive fun and nostalgic joy to the timeless tunes. With costumes encouraged, audiences can immerse themselves in the film, serenading the night away to every iconic melody from “Do-Re-Mi” to “My Favorite Things!”

“The Sound of Music,” a 1965 classic, tells the uplifting story of Maria (Julie Andrews), a spirited young woman on her way to becoming a nun who instead becomes a governess for the seven children of Captain von Trapp (Christopher Plummer), a widowed naval officer. Set against the backdrop of pre-World War II Austria, the musical movie follows Maria as she brings music, love and joy into the von Trapp household, ultimately helping the family rediscover their happiness and unity. However, their peaceful existence is threatened by the rise of the Nazi regime, leading to a dramatic escape as the von Trapps flee Austria to find freedom and pursue their dreams through the power of music and love.

Tickets for the screening are $15 at thesuffolk.org. The Suffolk is at 118 East Main Street in Riverhead.
