Last weekend, San Diego’s ComicCon showcased what is up and coming in the world of graphic novels, superhero films and cult television classics.

It also showcased the work of two local residents who earned a place in a special toy photography timeline at the Hasbro company booth. The photos were chosen as part of an online contest asking toy photographers to take pictures of their “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” toys recreating scenes from the film. Only 24 images were selected through submissions on Instagram and other social media.

Mr. Peterson, a resident of Water Mill, said, “This particular shot, of Rey on her speeder, was a great way to take advantage of my local surroundings, the beach, and make use of some really cool toys…. I collect both 3.75-inch and 6-inch Star Wars figures, mostly from the Black Series line, but the smaller scale is more expansive in terms of vehicles, so it was fun to use one in putting together this scene.”

“A lot of what inspired me was the work I saw other toy photographers submitting,” said Mr. Rohde. “There’s a group of us that use each other to constantly push each other to do better work on a consistent basis.”
