Note: As of December 27, 2021, this production has been postponed due to the surge in COVID-19 infections in the state. A new production date is to be determined.

Intrepid Theatricals in partnership with Southampton Cultural Center (SCC) will present Christopher Durang’s 2013 Tony Award-winning play, “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike” Friday, January 7, through Sunday, January 16 at SCC, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton.

Directed by Bay Street Theater’s director of education Allen O’Reilly, the cast features SCC veteran John Leonard as Vanya, Teresa DeBerry as Sonia, Andrea Harum Schiavoni as Masha, New York City actor Connor Tuohy as Spike, Anna Schiavoni as Nina and Catherine Bromberg as Cassandra.

“While Durang is quoted as saying that he took many of the characters and themes from Anton Chekhov’s major plays and threw them in a blender to create ‘Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,’ no previous knowledge of Chekhov is required to truly enjoy this bittersweet and often hilarious comedy,” O’Reilly says.

Shows are Fridays at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 at scc-arts.org.
