It’s safe to say that no two homes in the Hamptons are exactly alike.

This variety is what makes the annual Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center House and Garden Tour a highlight of the summer season, and with so many spectacular residences to choose from, selecting the homes to showcase is an exciting part of the process.

“Finding the homes is a very organic process,” said WHBPAC development and operations director Roberta Shoten. “Sometimes you’re invited someplace and you think, ‘This would be a great house to have on the tour,’ or sometimes people come to you and ask, ‘Why don’t you ever pick my house for the tour?’ and sometimes you just drive by a house and think, ‘I need to research who lives there and see if I can go there.’”

Two of the homes selected were acquired through this year’s tour sponsor, Aimee Fitzpatrick Martin, a Saunders & Associates real estate agent based in Southampton and longtime supporter of the performing arts center.

“She said, ‘I have these two homes that people have been in for a while, and I think they would really love to do it,’” Ms. Shoten recalled.

Considering her passion for the arts, Ms. Martin said her partnership with WHBPAC was a natural decision.

“I am one hundred percent committed to seeing the WHBPAC flourish and grow,” she said. “As a realtor selling in the Westhampton Beach and Quogue areas, the WHBPAC is a major community selling point. It’s a real jewel box of a theater and a year-round treasure offering world-class concerts, movies and events for residents and visitors alike.”

In its 15th edition, the day-long, self-guided tour will take guests to view the best-of-the-best homes in Westhampton Beach, Quogue and Quiogue.

“We have some unique homes that you just can’t get into, but you’ve always wanted to …” Ms. Shoten said. “There’s just something about the house that you just know you want to see it.”

One of the six homes featured on the tour will be 136 Beach Lane in Westhampton Beach, which boasts views of the bays and ocean. “Tranquility” is the theme of this home, featuring artwork and hand-selected textiles from India, complete with an indoor mahogany rock climbing wall.

“I must have driven past 136 Beach Lane so many times and thought that the metalwork on the front door was just crazy,” Ms. Shoten said. “I always wanted to know about it.”

Dune Road, the well-known strip along the ocean that boasts some of the most affluent homes on the East End, is home to three stops on the tour.

102 Dune Road in Westhampton Beach includes vertical kitchen storage and flip-top cabinetry, as well as panoramic vistas of the bay and ocean. Other unique amenities of this home include a private boardwalk leading to a deepwater dock, a master suite complete with a balcony, and a gunite pool with a spa and cabana.

A family-friendly home is seen at 15 Dune Road in Quogue, which incorporates a wall of family photos and an indoor and outdoor garage playroom for children. The personal touches, including an outdoor dining room, are what turn this house into a home.

“When you walk in you just know it’s a family home,” Ms. Shoten said. “You just know that everybody who comes here is happy and has a towel and a bedroom … and she always has snacks out.”

Found nestled in the dunes in Westhampton Beach is 291 Dune Road, the traditional beach home with modern touches and, of course, bay and ocean views from the master bedroom suite.

In the Village of Quogue is 2 Bay Road, an historic estate on a 35-acre lot with lush landscaping, a gunite pool, a pool house and a screened-in porch. Though traditional in its nature, this home is constantly updated with modern conveniences.

The only home on the tour in Quiogue is 116 Meeting House Road, a postmodern estate with traditional touches like crown molding and coffered ceilings, as well as intricately detailed woodwork. The last stop on the tour, this home will be the setting for refreshments and the auction.

With so many home tours to choose from during the summer season on the East End, Ms. Shoten said that what sets the WHBPAC House and Garden Tour apart from similar events is that it gives guests an authentic sense of the homeowner.

“It really just allows you to see the way other people live,” she said.

The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center House and Garden Tour will take place Friday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $85 for the tour only and $125 for the tour and lunch at Starr Boggs in Westhampton Beach. Guests may begin the tour at any of the listed locations. For more information, visit whbpac.org.
