The Westhampton Beach Project returns this summer with its sixth annual free event that brings a combination of contemporary dance, music and delicious eats from local restaurants to Westhampton Beach. The two-day event will be held on the Great Lawn on Main Street on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27.

The project was conceptualized by artist and president of the Musical Mime Theater, Steven Colucci, who has been involved in the arts for over 46 years and worked closely with the famous French mime Marcel Marceau. A Westhampton resident, Colucci has made it his personal mission to expose younger generations to some of the art forms he has dedicated so many years of his life to studying.

Celebrated singer Steven Maglio and his big band orchestra will open the Westhampton Beach Project weekend on Friday, July 26, at 8 p.m., with “Not Just Sinatra,” a program of Sinatra’s signature songs and others not so closely associated with Ole’ Blue Eyes. Also performing with Maglio will be dancers from the John Lehrer Dance company and East Coast Contemporary Ballet, a company internationally renowned for its energized athletic ensemble work that serves audiences worldwide through education and outreach programs, to sustain an appreciation for dance.

The following night, Saturday, July 27, both Jon Lehrer Dance Company and East Coast Contemporary Ballet will perform on the Great Lawn, again at 8 p.m.

Throughout the two events, guests will be able to enjoy Westhampton Beach Project’s mini food festival with local bites from over 25 restaurants and cocktails from a dozen bars. Participants include: Insatiable Eats, Rogue Kitchens, The Wine Room at the Cottage, Sobol, Whitney’s Fine Food, Centro and Buoy One, Westhampton Beach Brewing Company, Justin Chop Shop, Mill Road Seafood, Mary’s, Westhampton Fine Wine and several others.

The Westhampton Beach Project is funded by Steven Colucci and Colucci Musical Mime Theater. While admission to the performances is free, in support of the effort, guests making a charitable donation of $60 and up will receive a VIP seat on the Great Lawn, hors d’oeuvres, specialty appetizers and cocktails. All proceeds will go towards The Musical Mime Company, Inc., the not-for-profit organization dedicated to assembling artists in all areas of creativity and collecting information on corporal movement and furthermore on art in general.
