WHBPAC Partners With Burner Law Group For Women’s History

During the month of March, Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is partnering with East End attorney Nancy Burner for a month-long celebration of female history culminating in a screening, filmed especially for the theater, featuring the hidden stories of WHBPAC female volunteers. Burner is founder of Third Age Unplugged, a non-profit foundation that encourages others to recognize, accept and stand firmly in who they are, to have the courage to fully engage in their lives, and to realize that finding their best selves is a continuous journey.

“We want to showcase that women’s history comes in all forms, and many of the women around us have unusual and unexpected stories, anecdotes, and experiences — if you just ask,” says WHBPAC’s director of volunteer services Allison Frost. “For many of these women, it’s a wonderful way to relive their memories and pass their knowledge on to younger generations.”

“I love working with WHBPAC because they understand the power of creative storytelling,” said Burner, the founder of Burner Law Group‚ P.C. established in 1995. Burner holds the designation of Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), and was selected by a panel of peers to be included in Best Lawyers in America for Elder Law. Due to her tireless work in the estate and elder law field, she was named as the Long Island Elder Law Attorney of the year. Burner is also a past president of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association and a past co-chair of the Suffolk County Elder Law Committee.

“Nancy has shown a constant commitment to women, both through her business and through her philanthropy. We are honored to be working with her to shine a light on our fabulous volunteers and their inspiring stories,” said WHBPAC Executive Director Julienne Penza-Boone.

The month-long celebration of historical female figures culminates on March 26 with a screening of their collaborative film project, “Making a Life,” a documentary-style film bringing the life and love of the women of the WHBPAC volunteer corps to the screen.

“Nancy’s work in the elder law field is a perfect partner for Women’s History Month and the performing arts center,” said WHBPAC’s marketing director, Heather Draskin. “Most are past the age of retirement and they make up the core of our volunteers. Nancy’s commitment to giving others the tools and resources needed to live a prosperous and full ‘third age’ is inspirational.”
