The Fabian Almazan Quintet will perform at Southampton Arts Center on Saturday, April 22, as part of “The World of Jazz: Images & Sounds,” a Hamptons Jazz Fests winter series event featuring a concert and a photo exhibition of work by Rick Kallaher, the official Hamptons Jazz Fest photographer.
Kallaher’s ability to capture the spirit and essence of live music is evident in this eclectic photo exhibition of select work from Hamptons Jazz Fest 2022. A preshow reception will be held at 5 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 p.m. and photographs will be available for purchase.
Cuban-American pianist and composer Fabian Almazan found his musical roots as a child in Havana where he first was steeped in the classical piano tradition. Almazan immersed himself in the realm of orchestral composition, studying instrumentation and orchestration with famed composer/pianist, Giampaolo Bracali. Now an award-winning musician in his own right, Almazan has performed his music around the world as a band leader and as a featured instrumentalist for the likes of Terence Blanchard, Dave Douglas and Avishai Cohen.
Tickets for the event are $35 ($30 members, $15 students) at southamptonartscenter.org or hamptonsjazzfest.org. Southampton Arts Center is at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton. For more information, call 631-283-0967.
