The Rising Stars series at Southampton Cultural Center brings Nathan Lee, a brilliant and acclaimed young pianist, to its stage on Saturday, May 18 at 6 p.m. This charismatic performer started his international career three years ago at the age of 15 when he won first prize in the 2016 Young Concert Artists International Auditions and was also awarded no less than 14 special concert prizes. He made his New York debut at 16, opening the Young Concert Artists Series at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall and the Korean Concert Society Prize sponsored Mr. Lee’s sold-out, critically-acclaimed Kennedy Center debut in Washington, D.C.
On May 16, right before his Southampton Cultural Center concert, Mr. Lee gives his New York concerto debut at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall where he will perform the Mendelssohn Piano Concerto No.1 with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s conducted by Teddy Abrams.
Mr. Lee impressed Pianofest listeners last summer with his mature reading of staples of piano masterpiece repertory and organizers of this weekend’s concert are most delighted to welcome him in Rising Stars with a program of works by Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann, and Schultz-Elver’s “Arabesques on Strauss’ ‘On the Beautiful Blue Danube.’”
Tickets for Nathan Lee’s Rising Stars Piano Series performance are $20 in advance ($25 at the door). Students under 21 are admitted free. Southampton Cultural Center is located at 25 Pond Lane, Southampton. Call 631-287-4377 for more information.
