Bay Street Theater has announced the winners of its inaugural “Writing The Wave: The 2022 New Works Creative Writing Competition.” The top three finalists performed their work live and in-person during opening night of “Title Wave: The 2022 New Works Festival” on May 6.
Some 50 young writers from across Suffolk County participated in the competition, which invited teens to submit their original short written work in any form and in any language.
Clarissa Covey from Southampton took first place with the monologue “Diversity Spot,” Lily Caplin from Sag Harbor took second place with the poem, “Second Best,” and Jhon Esteban Arias Leon from Hampton Bays took third place with the poem, “Te Amo.”
Also included in the top selections for the writing competition were several honorable mentions for Kai Basseches, Sarah Bufalino, Isabelle Caplin, Omar Karim, John DiFazio, Ana Maiorano and Zoe Richardson.
