The Arts Center at Duck Creek will present the Zoe Obadia Trio on Saturday, September 20, at 5 p.m. as part of its 2025 New Music Series, curated by Peter Watrous.
The evening will feature dynamic, contemporary jazz performed by saxophonist Zoe Obadia, bassist Felix Moseholm and drummer Eliza Salem. The concert is free and open to the public.
Obadia, a New York City-based saxophonist, composer and educator, began playing the saxophone at the age of nine. Originally from New Jersey, she was immersed early on in a vibrant jazz community and went on to study at The Juilliard School under renowned musicians including Ron Blake, Kenny Washington and Dan Block.
She has since performed widely in New York City, appearing as both a bandleader and side person at venues such as Dizzy’s Club, Close Up and Birdland. Obadia is featured on Dabin Ryu’s debut album “Wall” and Thembi Dunjana’s “God Bless Ikapa, God Bless Mantsi” and she also maintains a private teaching studio in New York.
Audience members are encouraged to bring beach chairs and picnics and enjoy the music in a relaxed outdoor setting. The event is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m., with a rain date set for Sunday, September 21. Parking is limited and guests are asked to arrive early and be considerate of neighbors.
