The Southampton History Museum celebrates its 120th anniversary in 2019. It was organized in 1898 and incorporated in 1910. In its early days, the Museum collected and exhibited historical objects and documents relating to the history and development of Southampton. By 1960 the Rogers Mansion property had expanded to include a campus of 12 historic buildings open to the public including an 1830 one-room schoolhouse, and 1825 bard and a 19th century paint store. The Mansion also contains an extensive research library and archives with over 10,000 volumes, photographs, maps whaling logs, etc. dedicated to the history of Southampton.
