East Hampton Town Police expect traffic delays during the annual Soldier Ride of the Hamptons between Amagansett and Sag Harbor on Saturday, July 19. Soldier Ride starts at 9 a.m., when about 100 cyclists will depart from the American Legion in Amagansett. The riders will go through East Hampton Village to Sag Harbor, before returning to Amagansett. Police have not scheduled any road closures. However, police expect significant delays on Montauk Highway in Amagansett, Stephen Hands Path, Route 114 and roads leading into Sag Harbor. The event is expected to conclude at 12:30 p.m.

The East End Drug Task Force arrested seven men and a woman this week who the Suffolk County district attorney’s office says were operating a crack cocaine sales ring spread across Long Island and based at a house in Riverside. District Attorney Ray Tierney announced on Thursday, July 17, that the ring had been uncovered by a yearlong investigation by the drug task force, which comprises officers and equipment from all of the East End’s police departments and the district attorney’s office’s own investigators, and the federal Drug Enforcement Agency. HamptonsFilm has appointed two-time Academy Award-nominated producer Richard N. Gladstein as its new executive director. David Nugent, who has led programming at the organization since 2007, has been promoted to chief creative officer. Gladstein will report to HamptonsFilm co-chairs Alec Baldwin and Randy Mastro, while Nugent will report to Gladstein. Gladstein, a veteran producer and educator, will oversee all strategic planning and year-round programming for HamptonsFilm and its annual Hamptons International Film Festival.
