MONTAUK to AMAGANSETT to SPRINGS — Ameer-Humza Malik, 29, who has a Latham address on his driver’s license, turned himself in to East Hampton Town Police on July 9 and was placed under arrest on multiple criminal charges, while at the same time being issued 91 moving violation traffic tickets stemming from a May 25 incident. Police said Malik had refused to pull over when an officer put on his emergency lights a little before midnight on May 25. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Police were called Friday night after what was described as an “altercation” between a male couple and a group of juveniles, one of whom is said to have called the couple a homophobic slur. One of the men held the youth until police arrived. The youth’s parents were contacted, and the mother came to pick up her son, who apologized to the couple before they left. SOUTHAMPTON VILLAGE — A New Jersey man was charged with assault following a road rage incident on June 30 following a motor vehicle accident on Hill Street. Police arrived at the scene and determined that Kevin E. Guevara-Martinez, 26, of New Jersey was fighting with a 43-year-old Hampton Bays man. Both men were arrested. Guevara-Martinez was charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. The Hampton Bays man had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries and was charged there with harassment in the second degree, a violation.
