In last year’s report from the Town of East Hampton on beech trees, the figure 2 picture, they put “recovery” in the beech. It should have read, in my opinion, “compensatory growth.”
The beech is just using its stored energy and pushing a new flush of growth as it remains under stress. This is in a time of year it shouldn’t. The process will happen continuously with beech leaf disease now being present.
This year, it read, “no approved” treatments. Though correct, the science is still out on the effectiveness; they still named the “approved” treatments during the presentation.
A bigger question is, why, it seems, no contact with Cornell Cooperative Extension? The town works with them already. They are based here, talking to the same people, if not more.
Still here.

At the last East Hampton Town Planning Board meeting, a discussion was had over affordable housing and the site at 350 Pantigo Road. Kirby Marcantonio pitched an idea about the renters having “ownership.” Again, as he has stated previously, this...
