It is good to read that there will be another panel on the southern pine beetle [“LTV Launches Pine Protection Project To Increase Southern Pine Beetle Awareness,” 27east.com, June 3]. I personally wish I wasn’t working.
The beetle has ravaged our area for a decade now. Napeague is certainly devastated. Will they discuss the seemingly ever-elusive controlled burn? I’ve been asking for them since the summer of 2023.
It also highlights individuals to contact when they have concerns. In my opinion, there are some great individuals on the panel. I’ve dealt with John Wernet on multiple occasions, and he’s come out this way to view in person concerns I have had. Polly Weigand is very knowledgeable and has led some talks as continuing education programs I’ve attended for work.
Plus, a party favor? Appears to be a win-win event.
Still here.
