Montauk School has dialed back a plan to fund renovations with a $38 million bond, after voters rejected that proposal in May. The new plan will ask voters to approve a $34.8 million bond, with an additional $2.9 million that would come from savings. JACK MOTZ

Earlier this week, Wayne Gauger stepped down as president of the Amagansett Board of Education and resigned from the board altogether. Vice President Addie Slater-Davison will take over as president until the board elects a new president at its organizational meeting in July 2026. Gauger’s resignation took immediate effect.
