An article in 2018 was written in the HuffPost about schools weaponizing child services against parents who advocate for their children or disagree with the school assessment.
This was in the form of trying to attempt to make parents comply with what the school wanted to do. Using this as “one of the tools in their repertoire.” After all, any call made in “good faith” is needed to be investigated.
The issue becomes the parents, and their families’ concern to defend themselves, even against wild accusations. It’s not just a nightmare for the parents; it can become one for the child as well. Emotional stress levels can be risen.
As lawyer Don Lash stated, “If schools don’t get the parents to agree with what’s being recommended — not all the time, but sometimes … they will call to … pressure them.” It is almost as simple as if you would happen to be approached at an event and told to be quiet or else.
It’s a dangerous thing to advocate for your children.
Still here.
