No Diagonal Parking In East Hampton Until Fall

East Hampton Village will postpone plans to re-design the parking along Newtown Lane in the Reutershan parking lot until after the summer season, Mayor Jerry Larsen said this week. The village had been preparing to re-stripe most of the southern end of Newtown Lane to make parking on both sides of the street diagonal, rather than the current parallel, by the end of this month. The move would have created 12 new parking spaces on Newtown Lane and seven in the Reutershan lot. Montauk Hopper Route Could Return, Funded By Town

Supervisor Peter Van Scoyoc has proposed that East Hampton Town pay for the full cost of running the Hampton Hopper shuttle bus in Montauk this summer, in the absence of a state grant that had helped pay the costs in the past. Mr. Van Scoyoc said on Tuesday that he thinks the popular bus route — which makes loops of Montauk from the docks area to downtown, the train station and the Gurney’s resort — should be brought back this year, even though the $100,000 in state funding that had helped support it from 2017 to 2019 is no longer ... by Michael Wright
