The annual Polar Bear Plunge to benefit Heart of the Hamptons is set for Saturday, December 14, at 9:30 a.m. For this event, hundreds brave the winter cold to take a plunge in the Atlantic Ocean at Coopers Beach in Southampton. All plungers will receive a Polar Bear Plunge knit hat. Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for a child in need this holiday season. Inlet Seafood Restaurant is hosting its annual Holiday Boat Parade Party, with proceeds going directly to local Montauk charities, on Saturday, December 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. A line of commercial fishing boats, illuminated with Christmas lights, will cruise around Montauk harbor for public viewing. Reading of 'A Christmas Carol' in East Hampton

In the spirit of the season, “A Christmas Carol” will be read by Laura Jasper on Sunday, December 15, at 1 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in Sag Harbor. The classic Dickens tale features the perennial characters Scrooge, Jacob Morley, and ghosts, who in Dickens’s words “may haunt you pleasantly.” The reading is suitable for all audiences.
