An East Hampton Town Police Department public safety dispatcher has been suspended by the Town Board after being arrested and accused of striking a police officer in New York City in January. The dispatcher, Patrick Harden, was suspended for 90 days without pay by the Town Board on Thursday, March 21. The resolution for his suspension, which was approved unanimously, said that Police Chief Michael Sarlo had informed the board that he intends to bring disciplinary charges against Harden for violating departmental conduct requirements. The East Hampton Town Republican Party plans to nominate Springs resident Hy Mariampolski to be its candidate in the special election for a single Town Board seat this November.
