The body of an unidentified woman was found on a bay-side beach in Montauk on Saturday, according to East Hampton Town Police.
Foul play is not suspected, police said in a release issued on Sunday morning. The cause of death has not been determined.
The East Hampton Town Detectives Division in conjunction with the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office are investigating the death of the middle-aged female discovered on the beach between Edward V. Ecker Sr. County Park and the town beach at Navy Road.
Police were called to the area for a report of an unresponsive female at approximately 12:49 p.m. Responding officers found the woman to be deceased upon arrival.
The body was removed by the Suffolk County Medical Examiners office to determine the cause of death. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said.
