Bostwicks Chowder House in East Hampton was closed on Sunday following a break-in, according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“We are sorry, but due to an unfortunate act of vandalism and robbery, we are currently closed,” the Sunday morning post stated. “We are all ok and are hopeful that the perpetrators will be caught. We thank you for your support and understanding and we hope to see you soon.”
The post did not specify the nature of the vandalism or the extent of the damage. By Tuesday, Bostwicks posted to Facebook that “we’re still pumping out Bostwicks Chowder House classics.”
Calls to Bostwicks co-owner Chris Eggers were not returned.
East Hampton Town Police said Tuesday that an investigation is ongoing and details can’t be released at this time.
