Brian W. Quigley
Brian W. Quigley of East Hampton died at Southampton Hospital on July 10. He was 53.
Born on December 5, 1958, in Brooklyn, he was the son of Donald and Barbara Quigley.
He graduated from Syosset High School, attended St. John’s College and made a living as an entrepreneur.
According to survivors, Mr. Quigley committed the latter half of his life to helping others overcome problems with addiction and has been instrumental in saving the lives of many people who battled the illness.
They described him as a “mad scientist in the kitchen … an incredible avant-garde … chef, with little regard for calories and a total commitment to mindblowing flavor.”
He spent most of what free time he had traveling far and wide on a never ending quest for great music. As a long time lover of rock and roll and blues, he was never happier than while taking loved ones to great shows across New York and the country.
While not surveying the nation’s music scene, his heart was out at sea as a long time boat enthusiast. He loved being out on the water, they said.
Even while his condition worsened, Mr. Quigley always thought of others first. He has helped countless people through family problems, disease, poverty, loneliness and any other personal issue one can face. He was known to many as a mentor, a sponsor, a guardian and most of all a friend and a great person to share a laugh with even in the hardest of times.
He was always a source of humor, great stories, inspiration, and unconditional love.
He is survived by two children, Sean Quigley of Northport and Zaida Elinor of East Hampton; his girlfriend, Plero “Linda Rose” Systole; “adopted daughters,” Tonya Rea, Barbara Jarvis and Kara Wethy. He leaves behind his dog and faithful companion, Beauregard.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Matthew Quigley, Donald Quigley and Bruce Quigley.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.
