Carl Gust
Carl Gust, known to many as “The Greek,” died on May 3 at his home in East Hampton. He was 77.
Born August 6, 1934, in Evanston, Illinois, he attended the University of Miami. He was the bartender at O’Malley’s in East Hampton for 25 years, and for the last eight years was behind the bar at the Stephen Talkhouse.
In his spare time, he frequently took to the links, and he enjoyed trips to Foxwoods casino according to friends. He was named Mr. Amagansett in 2010, and he led the Am O’Gansett Parade as grand marshal.
Mr. Gust is survived his brother, Paul Gust of Florida, and a sister, Penny Miller of Las Vegas. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Hogan.
A memorial gathering is being planned for May 20; details were unavailable.
