State Assemblyman Fred Thiele, Montauk resident John Keeshan, East Hampton Town officials and representatives of Verizon, PSEG Long Island and LK McLean Engineering gathered on Old Montauk Highway this week to celebrate the completion of the "Montauk Gateway" work that directed more than $830,000 in state, local and private money to burying power lines, removing utility poles and other equipment and beautifying the stretch of road leading into downtown Montauk. The project was originally envisioned by Keeshan and was helped by a $250,000 grant from the state and a $200,000 gift from Montauk resident Dan Cahill.
