The Kiwanis Club of East Hampton inducted a new member, Lauren Nichols, at its December 3 meeting at The Palm. Ms. Nichols, who was sponsored into the club by Past President Henry Uihlein, is director of the Amagansett Free Library. The Kiwanis Club of East Hampton meets bi-weekly and holds several events during the year to raise money for children in the local community. Those interested in joining should email easthamptonkiwanisclub@gmail.com.

In recognition of Veterans Day, Tuckahoe School's  National Junior Honor Society created a slide show featuring veterans from the Tuckahoe community. Students wrote notes and designed awards for local veterans, including Rick Robinson, to thank them for their service to our country.

Springs School News, February 20

Springs School Springs School will host a few exciting events in the next few weeks: The eighth grade is hosting a fundraiser breakfast at the Springs Fire Department on March 8. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased from an eighth-grader or by emailing lfoti@springsschool.org. All funds raised help pay for the class trip to Boston in the spring. The first ever Springs School Family STEAM Night will be held on Thursday, March 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. Students and families will participate in several hands-on learning activities that involve science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. Springs School will host its Mystery Art Sale on March 27 and 28 at Ashawagh Hall. For this event, students will create pieces of artwork that will be displayed and sold anonymously alongside that of local artists for the price of $20 a piece. About 25 students will also have their artwork put into the silent auction or be made into greeting cards. Springs School News, February 6

Springs School As part of its annual “Souper Bowl” fundraiser, organized by third grade teacher Joan Branche, the school collected 77 cans of soup and (incorrectly!) predicted the San Francisco 49ers would win the Super Bowl. The proceeds are recorded as part of the nationwide “Souper Bowl of Caring” and the cans are delivered to the Springs Food Pantry. Fourth-graders enjoyed freshly baked personal-sized pizzas as part of their math unit on learning fractions.
